In the last few months, our engagement team has expanded with the addition of Jessica, Samantha, and Sophie! All three have joined as Engagement & Client Relationship Officers and are an integral part of our organisation, if you have called up for business support or to book a course, you could have possibly spoken to them! You could also see them out in the community at local events, job fairs, networking sessions, or just saying hi to our local Baltic community. We would love for you to get to know them better.

What’s your full name and where are you from?

Jessica Doyle – Liverpool

Tell me how you first found out about The Women’s Organisation and became part of our team.

I had appreciated the Women’s Organisation work and ethos for a while via social media platforms, and always thought ‘I would love to work somewhere like that!’. I took part in their Level 2 Project Management course, and this just enriched that even more. The course was delivered so professionally and by the end, I felt like I could project manage anything! When I saw the WO was recruiting, I think I applied the same day I was that keen!

What kind of things have you done prior to coming to The Women’s Organisation?

I studied English and Media at Edge Hill University and worked part-time in retail and hospitality. Once graduated, I secured an apprenticeship in the NHS as an Event Coordinator within the Education department and worked here for four years. During the pandemic, my role as an event coordinator was not possible so I helped with all things COVID!  including vaccine clinics, covid testing kits preparation, PPE training, and HR support. I decided I wanted to reunite with my passion for events, engagement, and supporting people who want to self-improve personally and professionally, so the role as an Engagement & Client Support officer felt perfect for me 😊

What has surprised you about working at The Women’s Organisation?

Just how much fun working here is! From going to local Baltic Triangle venues after work with colleagues, team building at breakout rooms, and wellbeing mornings filled with yoga and positive affirmations – my first couple of months working here have been amazing.

What’s the best thing about working at The Women’s Organisation so far?

I love being part of people’s journey and hearing how much our services have helped them reach their goals – whether that is to build confidence, develop new skills, or take steps to start their business venture.

What might (someone) be surprised to know about you?

I refuse to watch any horror films! I am a self-confessed scaredy-cat! Why would you want to feel scared when you can feel happy and watch a rom-com?!

What are your top 3 favourite films?

Pretty Woman, The Holiday, How to Lose a Guy in 10 days (basically any type of chick-flick)

Jessica’s dog, Toby

What do you do when you aren’t working?

Trying out new brunch places, catching up with friends and anything self-care is my vibe!

If you could change anything in the world, what would you change?

The working week is only 4 days!

What’s your favourite quote?

Hi, I’m Samantha. I’m from the Wirral but I previously lived in Singapore and Thailand as a kid.

Tell me how you first found out about The Women’s Organisation and become part of our team.

I first found out about the organisation through LinkedIn when I was casually scrolling. A few months later, I saw the Engagement Officer role when I was actively searching for a role and was really inspired by the work the organisation does, so of course, I had to apply for it!

What kind of things have you done prior to coming to The Women’s Organisation?

I graduated from university last year with a degree in History where I also did some voluntary work in student events and a museum. I also worked at Tesco during the busy Christmas period before I started working in a university library on an internship which really helped me develop my confidence and skills in the workplace.

What has surprised you about working at The Women’s Organisation?

The wealth of support that the organisation provides to Women starting up their businesses or looking to upskill. And the fact we can bring dogs into the office!

What’s the best thing about working at The Women’s Organisation so far?

The team is super supportive, and everyone is constantly empowering each other.

What might (someone) be surprised to know about you?

When I was a baby, I was in a baby oil advert in Thailand which I still have on VHS! People are also surprised when I tell them I have a phobia of jewellery.

What do you do when you aren’t working?

During the week you can usually find me playing the guitar, reading a book, or doing art… Although to be honest, I have far too many hobbies.

At the weekends, I’m usually visiting my uni friends all around the country (shout out to my railcard!). I also love being active, travelling, and spending time in nature when I can.

What are your top 3 favourite films?

  • Ratatouille
  • Inglorious Basterds
  • Ten Things I Hate About You

If you could change anything in the world, what would you change?

I would make public transport far more affordable and accessible, so that you can get to most places, including remote areas with ease.

What’s your favourite quote?

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present. – Kung Fu Panda

What’s your full name and where are you from?

My name is Sophie Rutledge, and I am originally from Bangor Northern Ireland but moved to Liverpool as a student in 2018. Liverpool is like a home away from home for me, and I absolutely love it!

Tell me how you first found out about The Women’s Organisation and become part of our team.

I came across the job role on indeed. I needed a change from my job at the time, so I began researching a bit about The WO and realised what an amazing organisation it truly is. After reading into The WO’s values, I knew this would be a job I would be highly passionate about and proud about.

What kind of things have you done prior to coming to The Women’s Organisation?

I recently graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Criminology degree. I have such a strong love for the city of Liverpool so knew when University finished, I wanted to stay on and work here. I immediately then moved into my own flat and got my first full-time job working for Student Finance. I then moved to Slater and Gordon and dealt with personal injury claims for around 7 months. I knew I needed a change and as soon as I saw The Women’s Organisation was hiring, I jumped at the opportunity.

What has surprised you about working at The Women’s Organisation?

Everyone has been incredibly supportive of me in my first few months of working here. They have made me feel so at ease and have been very patient with my many questions. I also love the fact that the courses we run are not only open to the public but also to staff at The WO and we are encouraged to go on them for our own personal development.

What’s the best thing about working at The Women’s Organisation so far?

I absolutely adore Marshmallow the office dog! And also, of course, my team (Engagement).

What might (someone) be surprised to know about you?

I did ballet dancing from about 5 years of age right up until I left school at 18. I had classes most nights of the week, so a lot of my life was dedicated to ballet.

What do you do when you aren’t working?

I am SUCH a foodie so I am always trying to find new places to eat in Liverpool. My monthly wages are literally just spent on food! I also love sleeping, so I have to have a good nap when I come home from work. So yeah, I am a little bit boring, it’s just either eating or sleeping and also going out for the occasional wee drink.

What are your top 3 favourite films?

Any Quentin Tarantino film but Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 are definitely two of my favourites. My amazing colleague Liv also introduced me to Dirty Dancing recently which is now a firm top favourite film of mine. Thanks, Liv hehe (can’t believe it has taken me so long to watch it!!)

If you could change anything in the world, what would you change?

There is a lot that I would love to change about the world but something which has impacted me a lot whilst growing up is unrealistic beauty standards! WE ARE ALL UNIQUE AND BEAUTIFUL!!

What’s your favourite quote?

“Tomorrow is promised to no one”. It is a great quote to remind myself to make every day count, to cherish those I have around me and who support me, and to never take anything or anyone for granted. It encourages me to live every day to the fullest!
