The Women’s Organisation Back FSB Report on Women in Enterprise

Local Women’s Enterprise support agency The Women’s Organisation has welcomed the FSB report ‘Women in Enterprise: The Untapped Potential’ calling it “a welcome confirmation of what we have been campaigning for”.
Launched recently the report offers key recommendations to boost women’s entrepreneurship across the UK, bringing an evidence based approach to the case for gendered focus in enterprise. 

The Women’s Organisation Asks: Are Your Daughters Worth 20% Less?

Maggie O’Carroll CEO of women’s enterprise support agency The Women’s Organisation spoke out in response to the news that the gender pay gap now stands at 19.2% and that large companies will have to publish their pay reports in 2018.

The government has revealed its plans for companies with over 250 employees to be ranked in a ‘League Table’ dictating the amounts that they pay their male and female staff, including bonuses, in a bid to draw attention to the gender pay gap which currently stands at 19.2%

The Women's Organisation Support Development of Government Report Showing Women Entrepreneurs are an Under-utilised Economic Resource in the UK

This week the Government’s Women’s Business Ambassador and Department of Business Innovation published The Burt Report which focuses on ‘Inclusive Support for Women in Enterprise’. Liverpool based enterprise support agency The Women’s Organisation’s assisted MP Lorely Burt to produce the report, gathering experts from different sectors to give evidence.

Why Are Women Underrepresented in Tech? | How Do We Move Towards Equality In Technology?

Last week Business Insider UK wrote an article on ‘The 25 Coolest Women in Tech’. The next day Breitbart ‘A conservative news and opinion site’ reordered the list and renamed it ‘Business Insiders 25 Coolest Women in Tech. Re-Ranked by Hotness’. 

The Women's Organisation reveal some key stats around underrepresentation of women in tech and ask if attitudes like this are effecting the rate of change.

BBC's The Apprentice: Have You Got What it Takes? Karren Brady on Successful Business Women

As the application process for Series 10 of The Apprentice opened last week, The Women’s Organisation have been invited to encourage women who think they have got what it takes to enter the programme. The winning candidate will receive an investment of up to £250,000 and will go into a 50|50 partnership with Lord Sugar. 

The Women's Organisation look at the key women in business talking points from series 10 and reflect on Lord Sugar's right hand Karren Brady's take on women in the business world.

The Global Gender Gap Report 2014 – Has life for women in the UK gotten worse?

The ninth edition of the report which was published last week ‘benchmarks national gender gaps of 142 countries on economic, political, education- and health based criteria’.

Egg Freezing is Not the Way to Break the Glass Ceiling

“This is not the path to positive progress” said Maggie O’Carroll CEO of The Women’s Organisation in response to reports that Facebook and Apple are offering to support female employees to freeze their eggs in order to attract more women.
It has been suggested that the perks offered by Apple and Facebook could be seen as an attempt to rectify the gender imbalance. Apple said in its diversity report this year that its workforce was 70% male, while Facebook reported its workforce was 69% male.
More than twice as many men than women are self employed: 14% of men, 6% of women.
