Our team continues to grow at The Women’s Organisation! Meet our new Senior Engagement and Marketing Executive, Nikki Anderson and find out how her creative flair and community spirit have kept her at the forefront of marketing on Merseyside for more than 10 years.

What’s your full name and where are you from?

My name is Nikki Anderson, and I was born in Birkenhead, Wirral.

Tell me how you first found out about The Women’s Organisation and become part of our team?

I have known about The Women’s Organisation for years, I think it was around 8 years ago I came along for some business advice at 54 St James Street and was so impressed. I have followed on social media ever since. The values and ethos of the organisation are something I am passionate about and when I saw there was an opportunity to join the team I applied!

What kind of things have you done prior to coming to The Women’s Organisation?

I have worked in creative marketing for over 10 years, I love working for organisations that have a positive message to share and I am drawn to projects that have an impact for local people. Making videos, creating graphics and coming up with strategic plans are where I am at my happiest at work!

What has surprised you about working at The Women’s Organisation?

I always knew that The Women’s Organisation would be a supportive and inclusive place to work, but I have been surprised at just how much these values really are at the core of day-to-day practice. It is fantastic to work in a team where you know your colleagues genuinely care about your wellbeing and will support you if you need help.

What’s the best thing about working at The Women’s Organisation?

Being in such a great team! The engagement and marketing team are so supportive and made me feel so welcome. It has been a challenge starting a new role in lockdown – I still haven’t met my team in person – but the friendship and support from them is there all day as we check in with each other online!

Could you describe one of your typical workdays?

I love being organised and I love a list that I can tick off throughout the day, so each morning I log onto Teams to say hi to everyone, and then recap on the tasks ahead. I’ll take a look at our social channels to see new comments and messages and check out the latest news. Then I’m usually working between a few projects – which is what I love about marketing, there is always something different to do – so I’ll switch between creating graphics, writing blogs or social posts, making a video or editing photographs. My role is so varied, and I love the chance to plan campaigns months in advance, and also working to tight deadlines where a piece of work has to be turned around very quickly!

What might (someone) be surprised to know about you?

I am the eldest of 9 siblings – I have 6 sisters and 2 brothers. I talk to most of them every day – we are a really close family.

What do you do when you aren’t working?

I run around with my 3-year-old pretending to be Pokémon! 😊 I love watching documentaries, digital drawing and roller skating. I’m currently raising money for Wirral Hive Youth Zone by rollerskating 40km in April.
