Carole Shepphard previously worked with The WO back in 2019 but left briefly for what she calls an “opportunity she couldn’t resist”. Carole re-joined the organisation last month and we are so glad we were able to tempt her back. Carole brings great energy, passion, and amazing colour-coordinated outfits to the team.

Here we re-introduce Carole to anybody who may have not met her the first time around.

What’s your full name and where are you from?

Carole Ann Shepphard, Liverpool

Tell me how you first found out about The Women’s Organisation and became part of our team.

An ex-colleague rang me to let me know that The WO was recruiting business advisors so I completed the application and was lucky enough to be successful.

What kind of things have you done prior to coming to The Women’s Organisation?

I set up two hair and beauty businesses, employing 16 staff, before developing severe allergies which forced me to sell the businesses as going concerns.

I worked as a territory manager for Schwarzkopf.

I took lots of advice and guidance and underwent training qualifications, which have supported me in various roles mainly within colleges. I’ve worked in roles across the placement and progressions team, in employer liaison, and employability training before qualifying as a business advisor in 2010.

What has surprised you about working at The Women’s Organisation?

The cake, biscuits, and sweet treats are left out for sharing most days, it would be rude of me not to partake!!

What’s the best thing about working at The Women’s Organisation so far?

The friendliness and camaraderie I have felt since day one here. I also love that everyone is committed to supporting and empowering women.

What do your days look like?

Quite varied actually, as the business advice team offers one-to-one business support meetings and also delivers training sessions.

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

I write and use a spoon with my left hand, but do everything else with my right hand, including holding my hairdressing scissors.

What are your top 3 favourite films?

Dirty Dancing

Phenomenon

Castaway

What do you do when you aren’t working?

I’m a nan to two gorgeous grandchildren, who I love spending time with. I have a 9 (going on19) year-old granddaughter and a 3-month-old grandson who lives with us so I get to see him every day.

If you could change anything in the world, what would you change?

I would make chocolate free! Seriously!

What’s your favourite quote?

“Strong women don’t have ‘attitudes’, we have standards” – Marilyn Monroe

Thanks, Carole we are delighted to have you back with us.
