Launchpad: Creating Sustainable Start Ups

Our Launchpad event will help you to understand the practicalities of starting your own sustainable business
  • Have a business idea you are looking to explore?
  • Do you have an idea that would positively impact the environment?

This launchpad event is all about Green businesses!

Now more than ever, businesses are making a conscious effort to be sustainable, with a lot opting to cut their carbon emissions, finding new ways to utilise renewable and Eco-friendly materials to reduce their environmental impact.

In this event, we will help you understand the practicalities of getting started, as well as connecting you with entrepreneurs who have been there, done it and re-adapted in the face of COVID-19.

Led by The Women’s Organisation this event is part of our Enterprise Hub programme, part funded by European Regional Development Fund and offering FREE advice and guidance to those living in the Liverpool City Region thinking of starting a business.

Book your free ticket now to join us and our panel:

Mikaela King – The Unwaste

Having worked across Marketing, Finance and Technology for a major online digital retailer for over 20 years, Mikaela found herself at a career junction in November 2019. Whilst taking some time out to explore what a different career path could look like, she came up with the idea of a milkman equivalent for household liquids. The Unwaste offers a bottle return and refill service to reduce plastic waste, uses products that are biodegradable, vegan and cruelty free and is on a mission to make greener living easier.

Laurie Stewart – Mindless Mag

Prior to Mindless, Laurie spent over ten years gaining international experience working in supply chain operations and digital transformation at some of the world’s leading Fashion and Retail businesses.

Dr Diana Powell – Wirral Unplugged

Having worked as a teacher and curriculum manager in Thailand, the US and the UK, Diana was keen to ensure all children had access to experiences that would help them succeed in a digital future. She took inspiration from Jack Ma, Founder of Alibaba, who emphasized the importance of critical thinking, collaboration skills and arts, to offset the rise of automation and its impact on future jobs as well as from her own experience of the negative effects of always being ‘plugged in’. Wirral Unplugged CIC supports families of children 3-10 to have screen free time and innovate through eco-friendly, low-resource activities, stories, guest speakers, crafts and games to better prepare children for the future. By re-examining, recycling and reusing everyday items, Wirral Unplugged supports the development of innovation and resilence skills.
