Change It: Building Better Opportunities

This 4-week programme is open to anyone who is not in paid employment & living in Liverpool City Region who is looking to change their life.

**Please note this is a funded programme, so ensure you meet the eligibility criteria detailed below before booking**

This 4-week free programme is open to anyone who is currently not in paid employment and living in The Liverpool City Region, looking to change their life (see below for full eligibility criteria).

Starts: Tuesday 18th May and runs each following 4 Tuesday’s 10:30 am-12:30 pm via Zoom.

What is Change It Building Better Opportunities?

Week by week this programme will help you to build a toolkit of strategies that you can use to make the changes you want.

Programme outline:

Week 1: Tuesday 18th May – 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Starting with developing a positive mindset

  • How our thoughts can impact our feelings and behavior
  • Why do we have negative thoughts? Where do they come from?
  • Challenging negative thinking
  • Practical strategies: affirmations, gratitude, positive self-talk, mindfulness

Week 2: Tuesday 25th May – 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

Looking at these behaviors, what is assertiveness, passive, passive-aggressiveness.

  • How assertive are you? What stops us from being assertive?
  • Practical strategies to start building our assertiveness
  • Learn how to ask for help, saying no, and accepting compliments.

Week 3: Tuesday 1st June – 10:30 am – 12: 30 pm

Money and mental health.

  • What is our money mindset is?
  • How our mindsets to money impact our financial resilience.
  • How to build a budget and trim our spending.
  • How saving can help us be financially resilient.
  • Looking at online shopping and how it can help us to save money
  • Using websites such as money advice service/benefits calculator
  • Staying safe when shopping online, recognizing scams and dodgy websites.

Week 4: Tuesday 8th June – 10:30 am – 12:30 pm

What goals do we have and how can we identify and set goals?

  • Looking at our strengths and skills
  • Identifying areas to improve, what opportunities are there for us
  • Practical strategies to start building our assertiveness
  • What threats can we identify that may prevent us from moving forward?
  • Understanding how to overcome barriers

Each of these sessions is interactive and offering real practical advice including short videos to watch, quizzes, discussions, and takeaway tools.

Eligibility

The course is open to WOMEN & MEN living in the LIVERPOOL CITY REGION (Liverpool, Sefton, Knowsley, Wirral, St Helens, or Halton) who are economically inactive (perhaps a student, homemaker, taking a career break or retired) or not in paid employment.

This programme is funded by European Social Fund so one of our team members will be in touch to complete an induction /registration form with you and collect 2 pieces of evidence of your eligibility, including:

Something to evidence your right to work in the UK such as a photo or scan of:

  • your passport
  • birth certificate
  • National Insurance Card for example

Something to evidence that you are not in paid employment at the moment, for example:

  • a letter from job centre / DWP/document from a government agency/ Screenshot from your online DWP account
  • a doctors letter
  • entitlement to state retirement pension letter
  • correspondence from an educational establishment if you are a student

Once the form is completed and all the evidence received, we will send you the link for joining the sessions.

If you don’t have the above-mentioned pieces of evidence at the moment but believe you are eligible, still register your interest here and our team can discuss this with you further at induction.
