Four things you MUST know before setting up social media for your business.

With more than half the world’s population using social media and with 54% of consumers using social media to research products, knowing how to use social platforms to connect with your audience and to market your services or products is crucial for your business. However, it can be very daunting. You may be thinking, “Where do I start?”, “What do I post?”, “Can I even do this?”. Luckily, we have 4 simple key points to get you a head start in the right direction.

Define your audience

Figuring out who your audience demographic is going to be is key to make your business’s social media presence a success. Understanding who they are, where they’re from, what they’re interested in, and how they like to be spoken to is crucial to marketing your products/services to them effectively. Not only will this increase sales, but will also allow you to create a genuine, long-standing relationship with them online.

Define your goals

What is it that you actually want to achieve through social media? Is it brand awareness? An increase in sales? Customer acquisition? Once you have defined a few primary goals for your social media, it will be much easier to reach them through smaller, manageable steps, known in the marketing world as KPIs. This is a simple, yet structured way to make sure your social media strategy is a success!

Choose your social media platforms

This seems a bit obvious, however it’s important to decide which platforms are right for you. Researching which ones are worth investing in and which ones your key demographic is more active on is essential, so your time, effort, and resources aren’t being wasted.

The most exciting part… getting creative!

Once you’ve taken the time to identify your audience, define your goals, and chosen which social media channels to use, you can then take the next step to create fun, innovative content to market your products/services and create a connection with your customer base. Images, infographics, videos, gifs, stories, and even podcasts can be used to reach your audience. The possibilities are endless! Programmes such as Adobe Suite are great for editing content. You can also use the free version of Canva as a cheaper alternative, with the option to buy Canva Pro.
